What began in the late 1970s as a catering company founded by Lee Epting has grown into a diverse portfolio of businesses spanning event production, emergency support services, hospitality venues, and real estate development.

Today, the Epting ecosystem includes companies such as Epting Events, Epting Support Services, PR Hardwoods, and distinctive event venues like Athens Cotton Press, 1055 Barber, and The Hill each built around the same core philosophy: thoughtful service, operational excellence, and genuine Southern hospitality.

Epting

Lee Epting’s story in hospitality began in Athens, Georgia, where he first made his mark in the kitchen at The Station, a beloved local restaurant known for its lively atmosphere and creative Southern cooking. It was there that Lee developed the culinary instincts, work ethic, and appreciation for hospitality that would shape the rest of his career.

In the late 1970s, Lee began taking those skills beyond the restaurant walls—cooking for private gatherings, university events, and community celebrations. What started as a small catering effort quickly grew as word spread about his food, creativity, and ability to handle events of any size. That early momentum led to the founding of Epting Events, which would go on to become one of the Southeast’s most respected catering and event production companies.

For more than four decades, Lee, and his sons Ashley & Daniel, have remained deeply involved in the Athens community while building a portfolio of businesses centered around hospitality, service, and place-making. Their approach has always blended culinary craft, entrepreneurial spirit, and Southern hospitality, values that continue to guide the Epting family of companies today. From restaurant kitchens to major events, venues, and national-scale projects, the history reflects a simple philosophy: great food and genuine hospitality bring people together.
